Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:ALXN) completed its previously disclosed $930 million purchase of Blue Bell-based Achillion Pharmaceuticals.
Achillion (NASDAQ: ACHN) was founded in Connecticut 1998 and has 56 employees. The company, which will now operate as a subsidiary of Alexion, relocated to Montgomery County last year....
...Under the terms of the purchase agreement, Achillion stockholders received $6.30 per share and could net an additional payment of about $140 million if danicopan receives FDA approval. Alexion, which funded the purchase from cash on hand, gets the cash currently on Achillion’s balance sheet. Achillion had about $190 million in cash as of Dec. 31, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
