EBay (EBAY) Surpasses Q2 Earnings and Revenue Estimates

EBay (EBAY) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.68 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.62 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.53 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 9.68%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this e-commerce company would post earnings of $0.63 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.67, delivering a surprise of 6.35%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.

EBay, which belongs to the Zacks Internet - Commerce industry, posted revenues of $2.69 billion for the quarter ended June 2019, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.50%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $2.64 billion.

eBay's (EBAY) Q4 Earnings Beat Estimates, Revenues Down Y/Y

eBay Inc. EBAY reported fourth-quarter 2019 non-GAAP earnings of 81 cents, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 8%. The reported figure also improved 14.1% year over year and 20.9% sequentially.

Net revenues of $2.82 billion also surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.4%. The top line was up 6.5% from the prior quarter.

However, it was down 2% on a year-over-year basis (flat on an FX-neutral basis). This can be attributed to slowdown in gross merchandise volume (GMV) due to sluggish contribution from Marketplace platform and StubHub.

Nevertheless, the company witnessed solid momentum across its managed payments offerings. Further, eBay’s Promoted Listings delivered robust performance by generating revenues of $136 million, up 73% from the year-ago quarter.

Additionally, the company witnessed growth of 2.2% in the active buyer number. The active buyers base came in at 183 million at the end of the fourth quarter.

Prognose angehoben - Ebay: Das Geschäft brummt

Acht Millionen neue Kunden hat Ebay in den drei Monaten bis Ende Juni hinzugewonnen. Die Geschäfte laufen so gut, dass der Konzern seine Prognose für das Gesamtjahr angehoben hat.

Danach rechnet das Auktionshaus nun mit einem Nettoumsatz im Gesamtjahr zwischen 10,56 und 10,75 Milliarden Dollar - zwölf bis 14 Prozent mehr als zunächst angenommen. Auch im dritten Quartal dürfte es besser laufen als von Analysten erwartet wird.

Im zweiten Quartal legte der Umsatz verglichen mit dem Vorjahreswert um 18 Prozent auf 2,9 Milliarden Dollar zu, wie das Unternehmen am Abend nach US-Börsenschluss mitteilte.

Der Internet-Shopping-Boom in der Corona-Krise verhilft der Online-Handelsplattform Ebay (eBay Aktie) weiter zu glänzenden Geschäften. Im Weihnachtsquartal legte der Umsatz verglichen mit dem Vorjahreswert um 28 Prozent auf 2,9 Milliarden Dollar (Dollarkurs) (2,4 Mrd Euro) zu, wie Ebay am Mittwoch nach US-Börsenschluss mitteilte. Das abgewickelte Verkaufsvolumen stieg um 21 Prozent auf 26,6 Milliarden Dollar, der Gewinn um fast zwei Drittel auf 781 Millionen Dollar.

"Wir haben das Jahr mit starken finanziellen Ergebnissen abgeschlossen", freute sich Vorstandschef Jamie Iannone. Im gesamten Geschäftsjahr 2020 steigerte Ebay die Erlöse um 19 Prozent auf 10,3 Milliarden Dollar. Der Nettogewinn nahm um 68 Prozent auf 2,5 Milliarden Dollar zu.
