Wirecard erneut im Fadenkreuz der „Financial Times”
Die „Financial Times” und ihr Autor Dan McCrum lassen in Sachen Wirecard nicht locker. Heute Morgen hat die britische Zeitung einen weiteren Bericht im Rahmen ihrer Serie kritischer Berichte zu dem DAX-notierten Fintech-Konzern veröffentlicht. Im Fokus steht dabei Wirecards Expansion in Asien, genauer gesagt in Indien. Es ist ein schon lange bekannter Fall, der hier wieder hochkocht: Wirecards Kauf der indischen Gesellschaften Hermes i Tickets und GI Technology zusammen mit einer kleineren Gesellschaft aus Bangalore für mehr als 300 Millionen Euro von Great India Retail - oder besser vom Emerging Markets Investment Fund 1A mit Sitz auf Mauritius, der das Business kurz vor der Transaktion selbst übernommen hatte, für knapp ein Zehntel der Summe, die Wirecard inklusive Earn-Out zahlte.

At the heart of Wirecard’s Asian accounting scandal is a simple question: why did the German company agree to pay around €300m for an Indian business only weeks after it changed hands for €37m? That 2015 acquisition, which handed huge profits to a Mauritian intermediary, is at the centre of criticism from short sellers, who question whether it was part of a giant fraud to inflate Wirecard’s sales and profits.
