Mein Fehler. War nicht komplett zitiert:
Thanks, but check this out. I was showing the power of utilities in one of my blogs.

Over the last 20 years, no dividend reinvestment, D is showing a total return of 405% and SPY is showing 167%.
I mean it's not even close.
Now, let's take it a step further and show what each of the utilities we own have done over the last 20 years, dividends not reinvested. One caveat though, D is the only I have had over that length of time but this will show the long term strength of utilities.

Only ED under-performed the market and just barely. As a group, not bad for a no growth industry, eh? People need to get their mind right. ... Ha!
If that exercise doesn't show the power of the slow and steady progress of utilities over the long term, then I don't know what will.
Utilities folks! ... Git some! ... And Git some more! ... I intend to tomorrow.

Of course those numbers above are significantly more in favor for utilities if dividends are reinvested vs SPY.

Hold on to your seat Argyll, I'm about to blow your mind! And this is a perfect example of why I insist the first company a young person, or any person will buy is a utility in any portfolio I help manage. Don't do it, don't waste my time, get someone else to help! That's my attitude.

People will never convince me utilities are a bad investment due to lack of growth. If I could only own 5 companies and own no more, it would be all utilities.
