Macy's moves into new types of retail
Cincinnati-based department store giant Macy's Inc. is piloting new types of retailing in some of its stores with the aim of drawing
in more customers in a challenging retail environment.
Macy's (NYSE: M) is piloting a partnership with San Francisco-based Thredup, the world's largest fashion resale marketplace,
in 40 of its stores across the country.
"We know many consumers are passionate about sustainable fashion and shopping resale," Macy's CEO Jeff Gennette told
investors during a second-quarter earnings call on Aug. 14. "This partnership gives us the opportunity to reach a new customer
and keep them coming back to shop an ever-changing selection of styles and brands that we don’t typically carry."
