U.S. oil futures drop over 7% for lowest finish since August 2017

January West Texas Intermediate oil CLF9, -7.88% lost $3.64, or 7.3%, to settle at $46.24 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange--the lowest finish for a front-month contract since August 30, 2017, according to FactSet data. Prices also marked the largest one-day percentage decline since Sept. 1, 2015.
