Gilead said it earned $3 million, breaking even on a per-share basis, versus a net loss of $3.9 billion, or $2.96 a share, for the same period in 2017. Revenue fell to $5.8 billion, compared with $5.9 billion a year ago. Adjusted for one-time items, Gilead earned $1.9 billion, or $1.44 a share, compared with $2.3 billion, or $1.78 a share, a year ago.

Gilead's (GILD) Earnings Miss Estimates in Q3, Sales Beat

Gilead Sciences, Inc. GILD reported mixed results for the third quarter of 2019 as earnings missed expectations while sales managed to marginally surpass the same.

The company delivered earnings of $1.75 per share in the third quarter, declining from $1.84 in the year-ago quarter and missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by a penny.

Total revenues of $5.60 billion beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.1% and were roughly flat year over year.

Wieso Verzweiflung? die Kurse werden ja nicht gemacht von denjenigen, die die epidemie bekämpfen, sondern von den Börsenteilnehmern.

Gilead Sciences (GILD) came out with quarterly earnings of $1.30 per share, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.68 per share. This compares to earnings of $1.44 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of -22.62%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this HIV and hepatitis C drugmaker would post earnings of $1.76 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.75, delivering a surprise of -0.57%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

Gilead, which belongs to the Zacks Medical - Biomedical and Genetics industry, posted revenues of $5.88 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 2.68%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $5.80 billion.

Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, wonach Gileads antiviraler Wirkstoff Remdesivir in Zukunft gegen die durch das Coronavirus verursachte Covid-19-Erkrankung eingesetzt werden könnte, scheint zu steigen.

Coronavirus Drugs Already in the Pipeline 

Gilead (GILD), to limit its used to clinical trials. Six large studies are ongoing. The first should report results on April 3, the second in mid-April, and two more in May.

We expect that we will have preliminary data from the study of remdesivir in severe patients at the end of April and will work quickly to interpret and share the findings. The publication of data from the China remdesivir trials rests with the Chinese investigators, but we have been informed that the study in patients with severe symptoms was stopped due to stalled enrollment. We look forward to reviewing the published data when available. In May, we anticipate the initial data from the placebo-controlled NIAID trial as well as data from the Gilead study of patients with moderate symptoms of COVID-19.

den Schub, den die US-Börsen gestern für die letzten ca. 20' bekommen haben und heute die europ. Märkte u.a. antreibt, ist eine Meldung von gestern spät Abends:
ein Medikament von Gilead, Remdesivir, ursprünglich gegen Ebola entwickeltes Präparat, zeigt Erfolge bei der Behandlung von Covid-19 Patienten.

In einer Studie der Universitätsklinik in Chicago führte das ursprünglich gegen Ebola entwickelte Medikament zu einer schnellen Fiebersenkung und einem Rückgang der Symptome der Lungenkrankheit.

Gilead rechnet damit, erste Ergebnisse aus der laufenden Phase-3 Studie Ende des Monats bekanntgeben zu können
