Raytheon Beats Q4 Earnings Estimate; Weaker Guidance Hits Defense Group Shares

Raytheon said earnings for the three months ending in December came in at $2.93 each, topping the Street forecast of $2.89 as revenues grew 8.5% to $7.36 billion, just shy of the consensus estimate of $7.46 billion. The group also recorded total booking of $8.447 billion, bringing the company's backlog to $42.42 billion.
Looking into the first quarter of 2019, Raytheon sees total sales in the range of $6.45 billion to $6.575 billion, jsut shy of the Street consensus of $6.77 billion, with earnings pegged in the range of $2.37 to $2.42, well shy of the $2.68 consensus.
