(Bloomberg) -- Uranium miner Cameco Corp. is buying a stake in nuclear-power giant Westinghouse Electric Co., teaming up with Brookfield Renewable Partners in a deal valuing the business about $8 billion.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based Cameco will own 49% of the company, and Toronto-based Brookfield Renewable will own a 51% stake, according to a statement Tuesday. Brookfield Business Partners had bought Westinghouse in 2018 as part of the nuclear company’s bankruptcy reorganization.

Hältst du den Deal von Cameco teuer und/oder strategisch für unklug?

Auf der ganzen Welt werden Atomkraftwerke gerade gebaut bzw. der weiter Ausbau schon massiv geplant.

Die Frage waere was sich Camecco von dem Deal erwartet.

Wenn du Vertikale Integration ansetzt dann gilt das wohl eher nur fuer Brookfield - die haben Kraftwerke ueber mehrere Energietraeger und sichern sich damit den Brennstoff fuer die Kernenergiesparte - wenn die Nachfrage nach Brennstoff steigt ein sinnvoller Zug.

CCJ ist ein Minenunternehmen welches Uran foerdert und als Brennstoff vorbereitet - hat aber meine ich nichts mit Kraftwerken selbst am Hut.

Mit dem Verlust heute sieht der Markt diesen Schritt wohl nicht positiv - ob wegen Dealpreis oder wegen dem Schritt Richtung Upstream - k.A.

Mit deiner Kritik hast du sicherlich Recht. Die Expertise hatten sie bisher nicht.

Ein Übernahme wird in einem Bearmarket sehr häufig mit Kursverlusten bestraft. Nur im Bullenmarkt flat oder im Plus.

Intel wurde vor nem halben Jahr noch wegen dem neuen CEO gefeiert, und dann gabs Mrden an Subventionen wegen Chipwerken in den USA...allerdings duerfte den Angestellen und Investoren die Feierlaune mittlerweile vergangen sein ...

Ich habe gehört das in einigen Intel-Abteilungen bis zu 20% der Arbeitsplätze wegfallen soll. 

Hoffentlich nicht im Bereich F&E, denn AMD hat Intel das erste mal in der Historie im Schweinezyklus abgehängt.

Da gehen da Amis mittlerweile dann auch voll auf das Ganze was das Decoupling bzw. Rueckabwicklung Globalisiereung angeht...
Wenn man schaut wie viele Unternehmen in China schon schwer investiert sind und immer noch investieren dann werden in den kommenden Jahren wohl einige davon unbequeme Entscheidungen treffen muessen - bspw. wo sie in in der mittelfristigen Zukunft die lukrativeren Maerkte sehen...Asien oder Nordamerika...

The number of unique Chinese companies on this list quadrupled, from 130 to 532, between 2018 and 2022. Leading Chinese chip companies, supercomputing organizations, and software and hardware vendors have all landed on the list. Even so, BIS exercised its discretion to license large amounts of nonsensitive exports to listed companies.
